Medal: First World War Victory medal; attached to a rainbow ribbon; col. gold; on one side is an angel holding a branch in its right hand, with its left arm fully extended; other side has 'The Great War for Civilisation 1914-1919' inscribed in the centre, with a wreath surrounding the words; around the rim '790541 SPR.F.A. Matthias. C.R.T.' is inscribed. Medal belonged to Frank Archibald Matthias, who lived in Port Kells. On his Attestation Paper, he states his next of kin as his brother, George Matthias, who lived in New Westminster. Frank was born February 22, 1872. He was a carpenter by trade and was a widower. When he filled out this form he currently belonged to the 104th Regt. of Active Militia. He also signed that he was willing to serve in the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Forces. Attestation paper was signed on 12 February 1916 in New Westminster. Frank was part of the 131 Canadian Infantry. Frank passed away in May 5, 1942, aged 77.
