Red L'Assomption sash, also called ceinture fléchée or arrowhead sash. Worn by French Canadians since the 1770s, this sash has a history interwoven with Indigenous and Métis textile working, and is now a symbol for the Métis in addition to being worn by French Canadians. This particular ceinture fléchée is red handwoven wool, with green, blue, yellow, white, and light blue stripes through it in a chevron pattern, and thin tassels on each end.
