Alexander Mavis built a retirement estate on 150 acres he bought from the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1887. He lived there with his wife Mary and their 7 children. He built a new residence on the southern edge of his land. Ca. 1890, his daughter Sarah and her husband purchased the new house and some land. The original house was of contemporary rectangular design, featuring a concrete foundation, wood cladding and a gable roof. Additions or alterations were minimal. They include a new basement and new foundation. Members of the Mavis/Rawlison family lived on the estate until 1967. The property is at 23843 Rawlison Crescent, Langley.
