Length 140 feet Breadth 28 feet Depth 5.1 feet Gross tonnage 545.44 Speed 12 knots Staterooms 12 Passengers 250 Engines - Cylinders 14' diameter, stroke 72" Boiler- one locomotive type 5' 8" x 6' 8" x 21 feet longThe 'Beaver', a stern wheeler, was the first ship built of iron in British Columbia and was in service on the Fraser River between New Westminster and Chilliwack until about 1912 when that service was discontinued due to the B.C. Electric Railway Company starting the Interurban Line between these points. Was sold by the Canadian Pacific Railway Company in 1919 to the B.C. Government for $10,000. And was later used as a ferry between Ladner and Woodward's Landing.
