The Baker house, on Alexander Road (208th Street) in Willoughby, on fire, with an unidentified man in front. The house had been built in 1923 and burnt down in April 1957. Rosalie Floberg was looking after six children of the Cote family when the kitchen sawdust burner backflared, starting a fire that quickly consumed the building, despite the best efforts of the North West Langley "volunteer fire department" (George Burdett, John Floberg, and Jim Hill). Rosalie was later awarded a medal for bravery for getting the young children all out safely.
