People/Subject
Annand, Alexander Joseph (1853-1942)
Alexander was an early settler in the Campbell Valley area. He farmed, prospected, and did road contract work as a pathmaster for the municipality. He was the first president of the Langley Agricultural Fair and served in WWI. He married Sarah Ann Fraser (or Frame) (1854-1918) and had six children: Lucy, Roy, Alice, Frank, Joseph, and one other boy. Alexander sold his property in 1905 to W. F. Taylor, who leased 80 acres to Len Rowlatt, who later purchased it and lived there until his death in 1972. The property was then sold to the GVRD in 1981 and made a heritage site. Today, the restored farm in Campbell Valley Park is called the Annand-Rowlatt Farm.
