Wig case/box for a barrister's wig; consists of two parts, black metal box with lid (a) and metal wig stand/riser that fits inside the box (b); the exterior black metal box (a) has gold detailing; it is a slightly irregular oval-shaped box; approximately 8.5" tall; the lid is attached to the box with a single hinge at the back; there is a metal closure at front of the box; there is a curved metal handle on top of the lid; text on the front of the box reads: "J. B. Hira Esq." in gold font; text on interior of the lid reads: "Ravenscroft / Law / Wig & Robe Makers / Lincolns Inn / London" in gold font; the box contains the wig stand (part b) and a barrister's wig (2021.035.001); the wig stand (part b) is approximately 8" tall and 8.5" wide; it has a flat, black metal base with a 1" high lip around the outside; there are 2 long handles (one on either side of the base) with which one can lift the stand out of the box; the 2 handles are very thin pieces of metal (7.5" tall) with a small circular loop at the top; there is another thin piece of metal attached to one end of the base, which protrudes inwards and then vertically; at the end of this piece is a flat metal disk (4" in diameter) with 2 sharp points protruding from its center; the wig sits upon this disk; this wig case and the wig inside (2021.035.001) both belonged to John Hira.
