All Township recreation centres, arenas, pools, and the Langley Centennial Museum are closed to curb the spread of COVID-19.  All arts, culture and heritage programs are cancelled or postponed until futher notice. We continue to take direction from health authorities with respect to programs delivery to the public.

The museum welcomes adults and seniors to take part in high-calibre art and heritage courses for beginners and advanced artists alike! Adults are encouraged to get social, try something new, and expand their knowledge and skills to new areas.

JEWELRY DESIGN | 16+ YRS | 3 HOURS

Program Date: Saturday, May 9   1:00-4:00pm       1/$23.20    
 
Learn the basics of jewelry making and working with wire, glass and paper beads, clasps, wire twisting and wrapping, and findings. A local artist will offer demonstrations and assistance with ideas and creation of your work.
 
 

 

ADAPTED CREATIVE ART PROGRAM | 16+ YRS | 2 HOURS
Program Dates: Saturday, May 18-June 15   9:30-11:30am       7/$105.00    
 
Try a variety of art mediums and learn different creative techniques to create art in the adapted art program, tailored for adults wanting a little extra support. Projects led by artist Helen Brownsword include, but are not limited to, illustration, painting, printmaking, creativity with fabric and jewelry making. All supplies are included.
 

 

HAND LETTERING 2 | 16+ YRS | 2 HOURS

Program Dates: Sunday, May 24-June 14   1:00-3:00pm       4/$87.20    
Program Location: Derek Doubleday Arboretum
 
Take what you learned in our basic Hand Lettering class and push yourself! Explore working with new materials and on larger surfaces. Learn how to combine word and image, and finish the course by making your own wooden sign to take home. All materials are included.
 

 

POET AND PAINTER | 16+ YRS | 2 HOURS

Program Date: Saturday, June 6   10:00am-12:00pm       1/$35.80    
Program Location: Riverside Community Room
 
We've all heard that a picture is worth 1000 words, but imagine what image and word can do together! This class explores the expressive combination of poetry and whimsical mixed media art-making. Led by a local artist and poet, this class helps participants develop both writing and artistic skills, in order to create a grouping of poetically inspired artworks and understand the role of text in visual art. All materials are included.
 

 

MAKE YOUR OWN 1920's FLAPPER DRESS| 16+ YRS | 4 HOURS

The 20's are back! Join us at the Langley Centennial Museum in celebration of the Roaring! Langley in the 1920's exhibit and learn to sew your own simple Flapper dress and accessories! All supplies are included.
 

 

TIP TAP: HOW TO USE A TYPEWRITER| 16+ YRS | 4 HOURS

Program Date: Saturday, June 27   10:00am-2:00pm       1/$35.80    
 
This class is the bee's knees! Take a journey into the past and learn how to use an old-fashioned typewriter. Explore the excitement and limitations of old-fashioned technology and create an old-style note, bookmark, or card. While you're here, visit our Roaring! Langley in the 1920's exhibit too!
