Public Programs

The Township of Langley through the Langley Centennial Museum offers a variety of intergenerational arts and cultural programs. Courses and activities at the museum and at other locations in Fort Langley range from visual arts instruction to history based family scavenger hunts. Although the Museum’s catalogue of offerings changes from season to season, the selections are numerous, educational and fun. Everyone from “parents with tots” to “grandparents with time to spare” will find something of interest. Search, and review our many programs and register soon. Family

Music Together

Music together is a research-based music and movement program for infants, toddlers and preschoolers and the adults who love them.  We nurture the development of their rhythmic and tonal skills and most importantly their love of making music.  First child fee includes 2 CDs, and illustrated songbook and a parent resource guide for new families.  Siblings 10 months and under at the date of the first class are free with a registered sibling.

Energetic Artists Day Camp

Is your little bundle of energy ready for some creative fun? Active minds and hands are sure to be engaged in this entertaining camp that's jam-packed with dozens of captivating art projects!

Tiny Time-Travelers

Using the Langley Centennial Museum’s extensive collection of artifacts as inspiration, young children create and play.  Assemble paper weavings after looking at traditional First Nations cedar baskets, write a letter and mail it home after reading a note from long ago, draw and paint a colourful still life scene and bake a mini apple pies after using old fashioned utensils.  Old fashioned games and songs round out the mornings’ activities.

Outdoor Adventures 

Little minds and bodies keep busy and active by playing games, going on outdoor explorations and creating crafts from a variety of natural materials.  Kids learn about the outdoors and the creatures that inhabit it through fun, interactive play-based activities.

Children & Preteens

Pioneer Pastimes

Young adventurers spend the week traveling back in time!  Experiencing true pioneer life, kids travel to the Fort Langley Historic Site and to a local farm.  They also enjoy heritage crafts, pioneer games and activities, trying on pioneer costumes, and cooking and eating like a pioneer, while enjoying homemade jam and other treats.

Around the World in Artful Ways

Embark on a creative journey where campers explore culturally diverse arts, crafts, and culinary delights. Origami, Pysanky, bean mandalas, and Celtic knots are just a few of the projects campers will undertake to gain new artistic skills and a greater appreciation of art forms from around the globe.

Whatever the Weather Outdoor Day Camp

Kids enjoy all that Fort Langley has to offer in this busy, outdoor themed camp.  Explore Derby Reach and take part in a survival wilderness lesson, enjoy nature walks on Brae Island and go for a dip at the Fort Langley Outdoor Pool.  Trips to local museums and attractions as well as crafts and games round out the week.

Emerging Artists Day Camp

Children enjoy a whole week of crafting and creating while using a variety of art materials and tools.  They build strong art foundations and confidence expressing themselves while sculpting, drawing, painting and printing.

Art Explorers

Young artists are inspired by fantastic artworks in the museum’s permanent art collection.  Each day an artwork is brought into the studio providing inspiration for young artists as they explore similar themes, materials and techniques in their own drawings, paintings, collages, prints and sculptures.

Art on the Go

This innovative day camp blends art and physical activity in a week that stimulates the body and awakens the mind.  Creativity blossoms and heart rates race as campers discover their inner artist through active movement.  Games, hikes, swims, and paddles are all used to inspire imaginative works of art.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Young folks join us for a week of crafts, games, and adventure while touring through a train car, visiting the Museum of Flight, exploring the BC Farm Museum, and learning about different historic modes of transportation.  It's not to be missed!
